While I was in San Francisco in 2007 on a study exchange I participated in a class titled ‘conceptual strategies’ which looked at conceptual art through new media art and artists. My professor was Paul Catanese. I really enjoyed this subject and have wanted to get back into it for ages and then I saw a free workshop on Processing at the Edge. If you are interested in new media but don’t know how to go about getting into it i recommend that you check out the edge.
I am going to start experimenting with Processing and posting them here. Some might look like nothing, but it’s all about getting back into writing code — which is a left brainer. Something I am not using much of right now

I did some experimental paintings yesterday (10 Jan 12) with lines on top that I really like and decided to recreate them using processing in an attempt to take out chance and the hand-made aspect that I always like to be evident in my work. Although using the mouse on “draw lines with mouse” allows some chance, the size parameters set in the code restrict it to a certain extent.

These ones won’t work on wordpress so I have linked them to my own site:

Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t.
But viewing them directly from the computer works all the time.
very strange…
and extremely annoying.
This one is just a screen shot but I have included a link to the source

I am attempting to create a moving painting and this is my first go. I was attempting to digitally recreate the painterly affect that I use in my paintings.

I have started questioning my choice of medium. I am exploring a 3 dimensional idea, why am I using a 2 dimensional medium like painting on canvas????
